    AWRA Florida's May 2016 Technical Meeting will be held Friday, May 20 at the Safety Harbor Resort and Spa in Safety Harbor. The meeting will feature presentations on springs, climate change, sustainability, water quality, state water policy and reuse by experts from the Southwest Florida Water Management District, Florida Department of Environmental Protection and several local Tampa Bay-area municipalities.     AWRA Florida awards scholarships and grants to pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade teachers, environmental education centers, high school seniors, and undergraduate and graduate college or university students in Florida. 2016 Applications are now being accepted.

    USEPA has released a new online training module, Understanding Climate Change Impacts on Water Resources. This training module is intended to increase water resource professionals’ understanding of the causes of climate change, its potential impacts on water resources, and the challenges that water resource professionals face. The module also describes how federal, state, tribal, and local governments and communities are working to make the United States more resilient to the impacts of climate. The 45-minute training is part of the USEPA Watershed Academy certificate program.

    AWRA Florida's March 2016 Technical Meeting will be held Friday, March 18 at the Steinhatchee Landing Resort in picturesque Steinhatchee. The meeting will feature presentations on springs, MFLs, recreational opportunities, with several experts from the Suwanee River Water Management District presenting.     AWRA is coming to Orlando, Florida in November 2016 for the 51st Annual Water Resources Conference. The Conference Planning Committee is seeking people to organize Special Sessions for the conference. The organizer’s role  is to propose a relevant and timely subject, attract and recruit speakers to submit abstracts on the subject, and to moderate the session during the conference. The deadline to submit is February 11, 2016. View the Call for Special Sessions.
