The AWRA David R. Maidment Award for Exemplary Contributions to Water Resources Data and Information Systems is awarded periodically as part of the AWRA Specialty Conference on GIS in Water Resources. AWRA Florida's May 2016 Technical Meeting will be held Friday, May 20 at the Safety Harbor Resort and Spa in Safety Harbor. The meeting will feature presentations on springs, climate change, sustainability, water quality, state water policy and reuse by experts from the Southwest Florida Water Management District, Florida Department of Environmental Protection and several local Tampa Bay-area municipalities. AWRA Florida awards scholarships and grants to pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade teachers, environmental education centers, high school seniors, and undergraduate and graduate college or university students in Florida. 2016 Applications are now being accepted.

Robert Sobczak, a Hydrologist with the National Park Service, will be giving a guest seminar entitled Restoration Rally Cry for the Big Cypress Swamp on Thursday, February 18, 2016 from 3:30-4:45pm at Florida Gulf Coast University's Cohen Center Room 247. More information is available here.
