    AWRA Florida awards scholarships and grants to pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade teachers, environmental education centers, high school seniors, and undergraduate and graduate college or university students in Florida. 2017 Applications are now being accepted; the application submittal deadline is April 15, 2017.

    Since 1990, many eastern U.S. states have seen significant threats to water quantity for the first time in recorded history. At the same time, as spatial and temporal distribution of water is changing, demands for water for municipal use, agricultural use and energy production are increasing, further threatening the predictability and availability of the resource. This webinar will analyze recent state regulatory initiatives and court cases in MA, NY, PA and CT and suggest possible ways that state governments might overcome these hurdles. Click here for more information.

    This summer, the University of Central Florida is pleased to host the second year of their National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Site “Preparing the Next Generation of Scholars through Community GIS and Citizen Science.” The program offers fully funded summer research experiences for at least 8 undergraduate students in Belize for 5 weeks and Orlando for 2 weeks. The program is open to all U.S. students and runs June 19-August 4, 2017.

    AWRA Florida's March 2017 Technical Meeting will be held Friday, March 31 at Gainesville Regional Utilities in Gainesville. The meeting theme is Protecting Springsheds: Groundwater Conservation and Protection. As always, PDHs/CECs are available.
