Graduated from the Ohio State University in 1991 attaining a BSCE degree, with an emphasis in water resources, minoring in environmental. Received an MBA from the University of Illinois, Springfield in 1997. Started career with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources-Office of Water Resources developing watershed master plans and flood reduction studies, primarily in the Chicago area. Spent 12 years in Colorado working for Kiowa Engineering Corporation developing watershed master plans for the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District. These multi-jurisdictional studies addressed existing and future urban development flooding problems and provided mitigation plans and flood control through regional detention ponds, full spectrum detention basins, improved conveyance, land acquisition and floodplain preservation. Joined Hanson in 2010 performing hydraulic design of bridges for highways, railroads and airports. Also developed dam breach modeling and Emergency Action Plans for the Cities of Springfield, Bloomington and Decatur. Developed site drainage plans for water quantity and water quality, erosion control plans, flood reduction plans, and FEMA LOMRs.
